Now, if we were in an English Exam, you would get a level 5 for using these instead of fullstops in your work, and although this is better than having lots of long sentences that go on like this and keep on going, or short sentences. That don’t go anywhere. They’re bad. It’s not brilliant. So let’s look at something a little more advanced, shall we?
As Although After While With Unless Because Before If Since
For these you would probably get a Level 6.
That’s not saying that you should all set about putting in random connectives wherever you feel like it though. No – there’s definitely a certain art about it. You have to put them where they fit. Occasionally after Commas, sometimes not... To go through every one and explain it would take hours, so in general, just use common sense! If something doesn’t look or sound right, it probably isn’t right! So figure it out for yourself, and if you’re really not sure, just Google it. Not hard (;
